Frequently asked questions about ticketing
-
Are there discounted tickets just before the performance starts?
Starting half an hour before the performance begins, the U27 audience can purchase remaining tickets at 20€ at the box office in the foyer (corner of Opernring and Herbert von Karajan-Platz).
-
Why can't I purchase tickets for dress rehearsals?
Since the season 2020/21 the Vienna State Opera offers exclusively for young visitors under 27 (U27) general rehearsal tickets for 10€. We ask for your understanding that we can only give tickets to our U27 audience.
-
How do I know if my seat is restricted?
In the case of restricted seating, you will be made aware of this when booking online by means of a seat description, as well as on the tickets by means of print text. In addition, our ticketshop offers a seat preview. Please check this before completing the purchase process.
-
Why are seats sold with restricted view?
The Vienna State Opera also welcomes visitors who only want to enjoy the music of a production. Seats with restricted view are a convenient alternative to experience opera music live.
-
Am I entitled to a (partial) refund if I was denied admission due to my appearance (clothing, behavior)?
Admission may be denied by our audience or inspection service due to inappropriate clothing or behavior, despite a valid admission ticket. A (partial) refund is not possible in this case.
-
Am I entitled to a (partial) refund if the subtitling system fails?
The subtitle system is a free service of the Vienna State Opera. Unfortunately, there may be occasional malfunctions; however, we cannot provide a pro-rata refund of the ticket price in the event of failures.
